EXPERIENCE WHAT’S NEW

rally-dayYour Christian Education Ministry has spent the past year reading, studying, praying, and discerning how we should improve our Sunday morning programming to provide better opportunities for faith formation.

Our new integrated approach provides for a deeper scriptural impact for all ages. In each of our classes in every age group, we will study the same bible lesson from the Revised Common Lectionary which will also be the main text used in both worship services.  The hope is that whether you attend the 8:30 informal-traditional worship or the 11:00 traditional worship, you will spend the second hour deepening your understanding and growing in your faith community by participating in our faith formation classes.

The Faith Formation Hour

9:45 AM – 10:45 AM (Between Worship Services)

FIRST SUNDAY BREAKFAST IS . . .

celebration-sunday-logo

The First Sunday of each month during the Faith Formation Hour, CE Ministry is partnering with Fellowship Ministry to host our traditional covered dish First Sunday Breakfast in the Fellowship Hall.

Instead of having individual classes after breakfast, we’ll remain together for the whole time for an assembly that will include: music, birthday celebrations, announcements, review of what we learned the previous month, introduce the new theme, activities for the children and hand out the Covenant Family Fridge Flyer.

We hope you will find this time to be an important part of your faith journey, both individually and as the Covenant family together.

Each Sunday School Class studies the same scripture lesson used in worship.

The following classes meet every Sunday morning from 9:45-10:45 (except on CELEBRATION SUNDAY when we have our monthly all church assembly)

Preschool Class is using Spark:Active Faith lectionary-based curriculum and meets in Room 16 on the preschool hallway.

Elementary Class is using Feasting on the Word lectionary-based curriculum. They meeting  downstairs in Room LL 4

Youth Class  for grades 6-12 meets in the Sr. High room, upstairs. The youth specifically asked to go deeper into the lessons so John McCrosky is developing and leading the Lectionary-based Bible Study just for their needs.

Adult Classes: we are beginning in the fall of 2016 with two classes that will both study the main lectionary scripture that is used in worship. These classes are facilitated by various members who spend time each week in daily study with each passage, reflecting on their favorite commentaries as they develop their material and questions for the class.

  • The class in room 4 will spend the hour together, beginning with concerns and celebrations before entering the lesson of the day. The lead facilitators for this class is Brock Daniels and Judy Grieve.
  • The class in the parlor adjacent to the sanctuary gathers at 9:45 and will finish by 10:30. This abbreviated class is very much like the one in room 4 -except a little shorter. Ending by 10:30 offers the opportunity for Covenant Choir members, others with worship responsibilities and others the opportunity to participate fully without feeling guilty about leaving early.

TAKING IT HOME

Faith formation is not just for Sunday mornings. The CE Ministry has developed a new initiative to take our faith formation into our daily lives. By intentionally providing a sacred time every day with the family, we learn to apply our faith to our daily lives. You can find more resources on how we are encouraging our families to bring it home on our FAITH FORMATION FOR HOME page.
